Bolin Services Inc. in Action!

Turning Compassion into Practical Help

Bolin Services Inc. supports people facing poverty, illness, bereavement, homelessness and other serious hardships. Since 2012, Kenny Bolin and the BSI community have raised funds to provide direct, practical assistance to families in the Philippines and people in need across the Louisville Metro area and Southern Indiana.

The help BSI provides is shaped by what each person or family needs most. Sometimes that means food for the week. At other times, it may mean repairing a damaged home, paying for urgent medical treatment or helping a family keep its electricity connected.

Behind every request is a real person, a real family and a situation in which even a relatively small amount of support can make an enormous difference.

Food and Essential Supplies

BSI regularly provides rice and other essential groceries to families who do not have enough food. For households with several children, a supply of rice can provide the foundation for many meals and relieve the immediate fear of not knowing how the family will eat.

BSI has also helped families obtain clothing, blankets and other everyday necessities. School supplies have been purchased so that children can attend lessons with the equipment they need, without placing an additional financial burden on parents who are already struggling.

Giving Children a Safe Place to Eat

Some of the children supported by BSI previously had to sit and eat their meals on the floor. BSI supplied tables, giving them a cleaner, safer and more comfortable place to share meals together.

It may appear to be a simple item, but for the children and their families it has made a meaningful difference to daily life and brought greater comfort and dignity into their home.

Protecting Families from the Weather

When families have been living in homes with damaged or inadequate roofs, BSI has provided tarpaulins and other essential materials to help keep out heavy rain.

This emergency support protects children, belongings and sleeping areas from the weather while giving families greater safety and security. BSI has also responded to the needs of families affected by severe storms and natural disasters.

Keeping the Lights On

For a family already living on very little, an unpaid electricity bill can mean losing lighting, refrigeration, the ability to charge a phone and access to other basic household facilities.

BSI has paid electricity and utility bills for families at risk of disconnection. The organisation has also provided rental assistance and support with other essential living costs when illness, unemployment or bereavement has left a household unable to meet its immediate expenses.

Medical Care and Medication

BSI has helped people access medication, prescriptions, medical supplies and urgent treatment that they could not otherwise afford. Documented appeals have included support towards surgery, follow-up care and blood transfusions, as well as assistance for families whose main provider has become too ill to work.

This support can relieve both physical suffering and the financial pressure placed on an entire family when someone becomes seriously ill.

Supporting Families Through Bereavement

When a parent or family provider dies unexpectedly, relatives can be left grieving while also facing funeral expenses and the sudden loss of their household income.

BSI has helped families with funeral costs, food and basic living expenses during these extremely difficult periods. This support gives families some breathing space and lets them concentrate on caring for one another rather than facing the crisis alone.

Helping People Experiencing Homelessness

Alongside its international work, BSI supports people experiencing homelessness and hardship in the Louisville Metro area and Southern Indiana.

Assistance has included food, clothing, blankets, essential supplies and help with immediate housing needs. BSI aims to respond quickly and practically, providing help that makes a direct difference to someone’s safety and wellbeing.

Bringing Happiness to Children

BSI’s work is not limited to responding to emergencies. The organisation has also created moments of happiness for children who have very little, including providing treats such as ice cream.

These moments allow children to enjoy something special, feel valued and experience the simple happiness that every child deserves.

Real Help, Delivered Directly

BSI believes that people facing a crisis should not have to struggle through complicated systems before receiving help. Funds are directed towards genuine needs such as:

  • Rice, groceries and essential household supplies

  • Tables and basic furniture

  • School supplies and children’s clothing

  • Tarpaulins and emergency roofing materials

  • Electricity and other utility bills

  • Rent and temporary housing needs

  • Medication, prescriptions and medical supplies

  • Surgery, hospital care and blood transfusions

  • Funeral and bereavement expenses

  • Food, clothing and blankets for people experiencing homelessness

Each act of kindness is made possible by the people who donate, share BSI’s appeals and support Kenny’s fundraising broadcasts. Together, this community turns compassion into something practical: a meal, a secure roof, essential medicine, a child’s education or hope during an otherwise overwhelming time.
